Brucelli is classically trained and globally experienced as a contemporary realist and abstract painter. She trained internationally in France\, Italy and the UK before working for seven years with some of New York’s prominent artists including Frank Arcuri\, Steven Assael\, John Phillip Osborne\, and Dennis Sheehan. \nBrucelli was awarded Best in Show by the IFDA for her collection titled “Transcendence in Movement” at the 2015 Architectural Digest Home Design Show in New York City. In addition\, her works were purchased for the model penthouse of Hudson Yards\, NYC. She undertakes comissions and is in private collections in Palm Beach\, Nantucket\, Los Angeles\, Colorado\, and Europe. \nBrucelli is a successful entrepreneur and previously owned a New York based clothing label that was featured on the front-page of the Sunday New York Times fashion section. Her prestigious background in fashion includes the Couture Houses of Dior and Balmain in Paris. Brucelli’s book Tell Me The Truth is due to launch this Fall 2025. \nArtist’s Statement\nWhether I’m creating allegorical stories\, brush-free abstracts\, or mosaics of poured color\, I have developed my own style of “artistic alchemy” – a combination of mixing materials to produce the stillness of image and the movement of spirit. \nBy using different techniques\, I aim to create a multi-dimensional space within the work that elevates the viewer to contemplate and transcend the physical. My current focus is on the exploration of the intersection between fine art and new media.

SUMMARY:Meet the Artist Reception: Mary Tiegreen
DESCRIPTION:Artist’s Statement\nMy journey into Wonderland began almost 30 years ago. It started with a yellow parrot tulip from my garden. Now 30 years later and with thousands of images in my collection\, I am so grateful to have experienced each one\, as each has transformed me. The process I use produces a sharpness\, clarity\, and shallow depth of field that enhances the tiniest details\, inspiring a fascination with small wonders. \nAs children\, we had a curiosity about all things\, where every discovery felt exciting\, magical\, and surprising. If we adults are lucky\, and open to observation\, we may recapture that feeling from time to time. It is my hope that these images can help viewers encounter a bit of wonder in nature and find the extraordinary in the ordinary. \n—Mary Tiegreen \nArtist’s Statement\nMary Tiegreen was born in Chicago. She studied photography\, writing\, and handmade books at the University of Iowa\, receiving her BFA. Mary moved to London to continue her studies in book design\, returning to New York where she was a partner in a design studio\, working with illustration\, graphic design\, and package design. She later spent many years in the publishing industry designing and creating illustrated books. Her collaboration with Jana Kolpen on “The Secrets of Pistoulet” series of books resulted in four lines of dinnerware produced by the Pfaltzgraff corporation. In 2010\, her show of Wonderland images was on display at the National Arts Club in New York. Presently\, her series “Climate Disasters Inspired by Great Masters\,” a co-creation with artificial intelligence\, is being shown at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory\, part of Columbia University’s climate school.

SUMMARY:Artist Exhibitions: Ivan Pazlamatchev & Milbry Polk
DESCRIPTION:Gallery 1 Paintings By: IVAN PAZLAMATCHEV\nIvan Pazlamatchev is a Bulgarian American painter rooted in figurative realism. In his paintings\, the representational contemporary interpretation is backed by classical training\, received at the prestigious School for Fine Arts in Sofia\, Bulgaria. \nWith over 30 years of experience working as a fine artist\, Ivan has exhibited in galleries and museums inEurope and throughout the United States. Notably\, in 2008\, Pazlamatchev’s paintings were included in the Societe Nationale Des Beaux-Arts Salon at Carrousel du Louvre in Paris. In 2018 he had a comprehensive retrospective exhibit at the Art Gallery Georges Papazov in Bulgaria. In 1997\, his solo exhibition at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia represented the Painting portion in the Salon of the Arts ‘97. His work was selected in the Crocker-Kingsley National Competition 2021. He has received awards\, grants\, and invitations\, including to the Art Fusion Festival in Berlin\, Germany\, and has work residing in public and private collections\, including the S. C. Rockefeller\, Jr. collection. Ivan’s art is included in the Lunar Codex\, a digital archive of Contemporary Art\, which landed on the Lunar South Pole on February 22\, 2024 with the Intuitive Machines Odysseus mission. \nARTIST STATEMENTWhen thinking about food\, particularly of fruits and vegetables\, I find myself contemplating the journey from seed to plant\, and then onward to fruit and seed. It is hard to look at a Seed as being alive\, yet\, inside of it is the potential for a new Life. And… why not\, the imagination\, the idea\, for the new plant. It is fascinating to see the unfolding of a plant from a little seed. How it grows large and so complex in form and substance. All of the guiding principles for its character\, its archetype\, seem to have been stored in and now released\, from the Seed. (Many plant foods that we eat are Seeds. In various states of fulfillment.) The series of watercolor paintings\, depicting farms\, I named Cathedrals. It is in reference to the places where our physical nourishment comes from. For more information or sales inquiries\, please contact Ivan: ipazlamatchev@yahoo.com / 845-642-2560Instagram @ ivan_pazlamatchev_art \nGallery 2 Photographs by MILBRY POLK\nMilbry Polk was born in England and grew up in the U.S. and Egypt. She graduated from Radcliffe College\, Harvard University. She co-founded and served as executive director of Wings WorldQuest\, a nonprofit supporting women in science and exploration\, and was Vice-Chair of the Conference on Affordable World Security. Currently\, she works with The Explorers Club\, co-chairing the Global Exploration Summit and leading the Young Explorers Program in the Arctic. Milbry got her first camera at the age eight and has been photographing ever since. She has published her photography in numerous magazines and books and has exhibited in galleries in New York\, Hartford and elsewhere. She has participated in led and expeditions to Egypt\, Yemen\, Sudan\, Iran\, Saudi Arabia; Iran; Pakistan; Alaska; Nepal; Brazilian coast; Greenland; Canadian Arctic\, India; Chinese Tibet\, and the Andaman Sea. She is the recipient of numerous awards and honors\, including the Sweeney Award\, the Explorers Club\, the Capt. J.-E. Bernier Medal\, Royal Canadian Geographic Society\, and the Anne Morrow Lindbergh Award2. She has served on the boards of the Explorers Club and the National Arts Club. She was featured in a CBS Sunday Morning segment\, which earned a Gracie Award. \nARTIST STATEMENTIn our chaotic world I have been drawn to places of peace and beauty\, places far from the modern world in space and time. I am inspired by the ever-changing landscape impacted by water and light. My favorite time of day is about a half an hour before sunrise on the cusp of light and dark. The pictures in this show were taken over the past 6 years in the far north of Canada\, the shores of Greenland\, and the coast of Maine. One\, image\, marked by the lack of water is of the ancient floor of the Tethys Sea which once covered North Africa. The strange rock formations in the desert were carved out first by currents and later\, once the water was gone\, by sand and wind. I try to capture a moment in time in an ever-changing landscape buffeted by water\, by storms\, by ice Illuminated by otherworldly lightVisit her website: www.milbrypolk.comFor more information or sales inquiries\, please contactMilbry at: milbry@post.harvard.edu / 914.522.2434Instagram @milbrypolk

SUMMARY:Sparkill Jazz Series: Laura Anglade with the Ben Rosenblum Trio
DESCRIPTION:PURCHASE TICKETS\n \nFrench/American singer Laura Anglade is reminiscent of many of the great traditional vocal stylists of the 20th century\, but her voice is uniquely her own. As she digs emotionally and eloquently into a lyric\, her story-telling abilities portray a soul beyond her years. \n  \nHer debut release\, ‘I’ve Got Just About Everything’ (Justin Time Records\, 2019) saw the vocalist\, along with her quintet\, fearlessly plunging headlong into a wide range of material drawn from both the Broadway stage as well as the Great American Songbook. On her Juno-nominated sophomore recording\, ‘Venez Donc Chez Moi’ (Justin Time Records\, 2022)\, Laura teams up with Montreal guitarist Sam Kirmayer and New York based accordionist Benjamin Rosenblum on two tracks. It is an homage of sorts; a nod to Laura’s beloved France. The record features French classics made famous by Barbara\, Charles Trenet\, Edith Piaf\, and Michel Legrand to name a few. \n  \nLaura leads an active international touring schedule and has performed at venues including Olympia (Paris)\, Royal Festival Hall (London)\, Town Hall (New York City)\, the Ace Theatre Hotel (Los Angeles)\, and the main stage at the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal. She opened for Gregory Porter at the Victoria Jazz Festival (summer 2022)\, and Melody Gardot (fall 2022)\, joining her across the east and west coasts of the US and Europe. She is currently based in Toronto. \n  \nAward-winning New York City jazz pianist and accordionist Ben Rosenblum has been described as “mature beyond his years\,” (Sea of Tranquility)\, an “impressive talent” (All About Jazz)\, who “caresses [the music] with the reverence it merits” (Downbeat Magazine). Since the release of his debut trio album\, Instead (4 stars\, Downbeat)\, Rosenblum has toured extensively with his trio and sextet throughout the United States\, including multiple trips to the Northeast\, Midwest\, South and West Coast\, as well as internationally in Canada\, Europe and Japan. He was a featured soloist at Carnegie Hall’s Stern-Perelman Auditorium – with Reona Ito’s New York Harmonic Band – and has appeared at prestigious venues throughout the world\, including at the Appel Room at Lincoln Center\, Kuumbwa Jazz Center\, Ravinia\, Himawari-No-Sato Concert Hall in Yokohama\, Bird’s Eye in Basel and the Library of Congress. Rosenblum’s second trio album in 2018\, River City\, was called “richly romantic” and “well-realized” by JAZZIZ Magazine\, which featured the title track as part of their Best of Fall 2018 CD. Rosenblum released his third album\, Kites and Strings\, in 2020\, which is the first to feature him on both piano and accordion alongside his new sextet\, the Nebula Project. In 2020\, the Nebula Project was voted runner-up for Best New Artist in JazzTimes’ Readers’ Poll. After the Nebula Project’s follow-up album in 2023\, A Thousand Pebbles\, Rosenblum was featured in an article in Downbeat Magazine’s May 2023 issue. Rosenblum has been privileged to share the stage with many highly acclaimed jazz musicians\, including extensive work with Curtis Lundy\, Winard Harper\, Deborah Davis and Chris Washburne\, as well as appearances with Bobby Watson\, Sean Jones\, TS Monk\, Warren Wolf\, Eliot Zigmund\, and many others. Rosenblum’s musical interests also extend beyond jazz to include work in numerous world music scenes\, including musical styles from Brazil\, Peru\, Croatia\, Bulgaria\, India\, Ireland\, Jewish traditions and more. \n  \nWebsites: https://lauraanglade.com/home / www.benrosenblummusic.com \n  \nInstagram: @laura__anglade / @benrosenblummusic \n  \nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/langlademusic/\, www.facebook.com/benrosenblummusic \n \n PURCHASE TICKETS

SUMMARY:Artist Exhibitions: Mitch Eiss and Joan Hooker
DESCRIPTION:Gallery 1: A Journey: Photographs by Mitch Eiss\nI got my first film camera in the early 1960’s – a Kodak Brownie with a flash bulb – and that was the beginning of a life-long passion for capturing moments and people. As my interest in drawing and photography grew\, I entered college as an art major\, but turbulent times and my interest in social issues led me to a career in mental health. Then life and responsibility eventually turned me to a corporate career. My one constant throughout was my love for art and photography.\n\nI am now happily devoting my time to making and sharing photographs. (Oh\, how proud my father would be.) I have shot major events and small music club venues\, but primarily\, “I walk the streets.” Each of us can look at an object\, a person or scene\, and yet\, we all see\, feel and react differently. For inquiries\, please contact mitch@mitcheiss.photography\nhttps://www.mitcheiss.photography/ \nGallery 2: Paintings by Joan Hooker\nJoan Hooker is an oil painter who concentrates on still lifes\, striving to express the essence of her subjects as well as represent in her work the response which motivates her to paint those subjects. As Camille Corot said\, “Beauty in art is truth bathed in an impression from nature. While I strive for a conscientious imitation\, I yet never for an instant lose the emotion that has taken hold of me. Reality is one part of art; feeling completes it.”Joan’s early education came from the inspiration and tutelage of her grandfather\, Pennsylvania impressionist John F. Folinsbee\, and her uncle\, landscape and portrait painter Peter G. Cook. She received a Master of Fine Arts in painting from the New York Academy Graduate School of Figurative Art in 1993\, where she studied with Eric Fischl and Ted Schmidt among others. She had previously studied at Pratt Institute\, the Corcoran School of Art\, and received her B.A. from Smith College.Joan Hooker’s work has been exhibited at the National Academy of Design\, Hirschl & Adler Galleries\, Allen Sheppard Gallery\, Newington Cropsey Foundation Gallery\, Somerville Manning Gallery\, the Butler Institute of American Art\, the Penobscot Marine Museum\, Rockland Center for the Arts\, among many others. Her work is currently represented at the Newman Galleries in Philadelphia.  She lives and works in Rockland County\, NY.For inquiries\, please contact jwhooker@gmail.com.\nhttp://joanhooker.com/

SUMMARY:Artist Reception: James Kimak
DESCRIPTION:James Kimak: Painting Light\nArtist Statement\nFrom my start as an inker at Marvel Comics to work as a newspaper designer and illustrator\, to an Art Director in the early years of interactive media at NBC and CNBC\, to the creator/designer of murals for large health and education institutions\, I have always been active as an exhibiting fine artist. \nIn 2019\, I shifted from my previous focus on pastels to larger pieces in acrylic on canvas. From a gallery statement\, “Through the use of vibrant hues and strong light/shadow contrasts\, he skillfully captures the interplay between light and form in his paintings. Drawing inspiration from such renowned artists as Edward Hopper\, Degas\, and Fairfield Porter\, among others\, his works suggest a hint of abstraction along with its explicit realism.  ‘Something catches my eye when I’m not actively seeking a subject. Often\, these subjects have a strong structural shape at their core.’ While his paintings are based on specific locations that evoke a distinct sense of place\, he also brings his own imagination into the compositions\, often omitting or altering details to align with his vision.” \nSince 2005\, I have also used my graphic and photography skills—often including images of my fine art—in the creation of narrative murals for such clients as Columbia University\, Montefiore Hospital\, NYU Langone Medical Center and New York Presbyterian Hospitals\, among others. \nI earned my bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Bridgeport. I have participated in numerous exhibitions in galleries in New York and New England\, and in museums\, including Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center\, the Parrish Art Museum\, and the American Museum of Illustration\, winning a number of awards\, including Gold Medals\, along the way. My newest honor is the inclusion of a projected image of my painting\, Man with Tattoo\, Havana\, in a dance and choral stage performance\, PORTRAITS\, at Washington DC’s Kennedy Center (6/2024) \nFollowing my first solo show at the Edward Hopper House in 1993\, I became a founding member of the Flywheel Gallery in Piermont\, NY. Afterwards\, I was represented by the Allen Sheppard Gallery in New York City\, where I held several solo shows. I have also shown at Carrie Haddad in Hudson\, NY\, Edgewater Gallery in Middlebury\, VT\, the Jessie Edwards Gallery on Block Island\, RI\, Ned Kelly & Company in Tappan\, NY and Perry Lawson Fine Art in Nyack\, NY. \nI live and work in Rockland County\, NY. \nFollow James on Instagram: @kimakart \nVisit James’ website: www.jameskimakfineart.com

SUMMARY:Sparkill Concert Series Presents: Matt Nakoa in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Matt Nakoa was born on a small goat farm in rural Upstate NY and studied piano with Anita B. Humer\, a student of Kyriena Siloti and Freda Rosenblatt. Nakoa attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and has made his career as a pianist\, singer\, guitarist\, and composer in many musical genres. The Boston Globe has declared him “a hot-handed phenom who can go from Chopin to beer-drenched honky-tonk in one set.” In addition to performing his own works\, Nakoa regularly appears with folk music icon Tom Rush\, national touring British Invasion act The Brit Pack\, and gives recitals of the classical masters. When not touring\, Nakoa divides his time between the New York’s Hudson Valley and NYC. \nOn May 5th Matt will be performing works by Mozart\,Chopin\, Liszt\, Rachmaninoff and his own compositions entitled ” Antique Dances” \nNotes From the Composer (“Antique Dances”) \nThese melodies were rediscovered in notebooks from my youth\, where they had collected dust for decades. In fact\, a juvenile incarnation of Waltz No. 1 appeared in my very first piano recital! In early 2012\, at the urging of my friend\, pianist Vassily Primakov\, I went to work resurrecting a few of the tunes. I polished them up\, fitted them with harmony\, and attempted to breathe new life into them. I took myself to an antique shop\, seeking inspiration for my own “antiques”. As I crouched before landscapes and self-portraits by unknown painters\, I imagined their toils and triumphs at the canvas. As I read brittle\, yellowed love letters\, I imagined soft\, flushed faces pressing together. I found innumerable old-world toys – model ships and dancing dolls – and heard little ghosts giggling. As I pawed through bins of old photographs\, I peered into faces no one recognized while clearing out the attic. I was stirred by the pervasiveness of impermanence. I was spurred to add my relics to the great pile. \nOn April 13th\, 2012\, the first six pieces of this collection were premiered by the great Vassily Primakov at the University of Vermont. I attended\, of course\, and it was joyous trip with much celebrating. \nThe remaining six works were compiled in 2020 while retreating at my childhood home in Smyrna\, NY. They had been written at various times since the premiere of the first batch\, and are also largely based on youthful sketches. In one remarkable moment of divine creative grace\, my father and I were watching silent 8mm footage of my grandparents when I heard a melody floating through the ether. I recognized it from a long-forgotten brass quintet I had attempted and abandoned in the 8th grade. When I rushed to find the notes on the piano\, it poured out in its complete form. \nFor more about Matt\, recordings and other releases\, visit www.MattNakoa.com \n \n\nPURCHASE TICKETS
