Dancing Leaves: Pigment Prints By Thomas Bernsten

June 28, 2014

About The Exhibit

Through June 28, 2014

Dancing Leaves Portraits have been featured in publications such as CT Cottages & Gardens, shown in galleries; amongst them The Silvermine Guild of Artists in New Canaan, CT where I am an active member. An extensive show of huge 4 x 5 foot prints filled the Main Gallery at The National Arts Club in New York City. Several public and private collections, The Dana Farber Cancer Institute and New York Clearing house among them have acquired the work. The collection of photographic images has become the inspiration for a similar collection of sculpture for the garden landscape. These leaves are sculpted in both bronze and fabricated in steel. Presently my work involves building sculpture inspired by the ancient practice of meditative walking paths such as in a labyrinth.

About The Artist

From the artist: I seek to express in my work a feeling of profound optimism, wonder, joy, and beauty. While walking one winter day across a frozen pond I glanced at my feet. The leaves encased in the ice mesmerized me. In a moment of grace the concept of expressing that moment came to me. It would become a collection of photographs and sculpture entitled “Dancing Leaves Portraits”.
